Abstract

The DomeHaz database contains over 900 dome-forming episodes, as part of over 600 eruptions, at over 200 volcanoes. Here, you can download a snap-shot, flat view of the larger relational MySQL database as an Excel spreadsheet. Please contact Sarah Ogburn (sogburn@usgs.gov) for specific queries or the more complete database.

The following information was recorded where available: volcano name, vnum, composition, start and end date of the dome-forming eruption, the duration of the eruption, the duration of dome growth itself, dome extrusion rate, dome volume, dome dimensions, dome emplacement environment, dome growth type, dome morphology type, eruptive products (e.g., pyroclastic flows, lahars), the date of any associated large explosions, and the relative timing of the large explosion (before, during, or after dome growth).

NOTE: I have only included a small sampling of properties for each dome. Most domes in the database have many properties available and often have time-series of those properties. See the tab "property_types_available" for more information. I have provided here a few aggregated properties (e.g., maximum volume). Email sogburn@usgs.gov for more data.
