Abstract

This lecture summarizes distal ash cloud observations via satellite and radar, along with information about meteorology and fallout, for the 1992 Crater Peak/Spurr eruptions. These small subplinian events produced significant fine and very fine ash fallouts that were sampled and measured. Even though it happened nearly two decades ago, it represents an important example of distal ash fallout. "Premature" fallout of ash is well documented here.
