Spread sheet to calculate tephra volume for exponential thinning

Abstract
An Excel spread sheet and instructions are provided to calculate tephra volume for exponential thinning on a log(thickness) versus square root of area plot. The spread sheet calculates volumes for a single straight line and for two straight lines. The equations for the calculations are from Fierstein and Nathenson (1992). A second spread sheet is provided to calculate mass and volume when mass per unit area is measured instead of thickness.
