Volcanic plume simulation using ATHAM

Abstract

These simulation runs were carried out in order to produce sets of synthetic SO2 camera images which could be used for validating SO2 flux calculation algorithms. Results from two model runs are provided: a "closed top" run which had a rigid boundary at the top of the domain, and an "open top" run which used a stretched grid to simulate an open boundary at the top of the domain.

The results from each simulation have been compressed as RAR archives. Each archive file contains several netCDF files each of which contains output data for several timesteps.

In addition to the model output files, Python code for reading the output files is also provided. This code can also be used to create "quickview" images of the model output.
