    Prof. Francesco Stoppa (FS) graduated cum laude in Geology in 1982: he received the title of Philosophy Doctor in 1988. He is currently Full Professor of Geochemistry and Volcanology, at the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences, University G.D' Annunzio of Chieti, Italy. Former Director of the Department of Earth Sciences, now directs the Center for Archaeometry and Microanalysis of the University. It has been a member of the Italian National Geological-Risk Committee from 2000 to 2003. FS has authored over one hundred articles in international journals and books. Its H-Index is 16. During the past 3 years has won the prize of scientific productivity ranking at the top of the list of researchers and teachers of the Faculty. He leaders several long-standing international agreements with the University of Europeans and non-European countries including China (since 1991), Russia (since 2001), England (since 2001) and Spain (since 2005). FS is an expert of phenomena related to carbonatite magmatism and mantle processes. His main field study is monogenic carbonatite and mafic alkaline volcanism (mainly kamafugites). He is member of numerous scientific committees including that of EUROcarb, a European project to study the global CO2 cycle. In addition, FS coordinates the School SISMA (Interdisciplinary School of Environmental Risk Mitigation) and deals with many issues concerning both the causes and consequences of climate change, pollution, resources and geo-environmental sustainability projects.
