This data set contains IceBridge ATM L2 Icessn Elevation, Slope, and Roughness data (Studinger, M. 2014, updated 2020) organized into individual flight lines, both in ascii and ArcGIS shape file formats. The data were collected as part of NASA's Operation IceBridge (OIB) airborne survey campaigns in 1993-2019.
The Icessn data set includes resampled and smoothed elevation, slope and roughness data of the Greenland land ice surface derived from NASA's Airborne Topographic Mapper (ATM) measurement. It is derived from the original dense ATM laser altimetry measurements and contains elevations at the centers an 80 m nadir platelet and five equally spaced platelets spanning the swath-width, all with center elevation and local slope values covering the 150- to 250-m-wide swath scanned by ATM. The root mean-square error (RMSE) value of the elevation accuracy of the platelet approximation is about 0.05–0.1 m (Martin et al., 2012).
The Icessn data set is divided into small, one-minute long segments. We combined the small segments for each flight into ArcGIS shape files and ascii files (one shape file and ascii file per flight). See Readme file (in Supporting Docs) for the data format.
